Clay Weaving

My adult class this morning hard at work weaving with clay strips. Students threw and rolled slabs and then cut them into strips. They wove the strips much like making the lattice design on an apple pie. They then draped over various plaster forms.

Making Clocks out of Stoneware Slabs

Making Clocks out of Stoneware Slabs

5 year old and 7 year old students decorating their clock faces before construction.

Today's ambitious project was making freestanding clay clocks. I created the design template for the overall project and printed standard clock faces from the computer. Before class, I threw the slabs and cut the shapes, as I knew this project would take a lot of time. They did a really nice job on this. Their favorite part, always, is drawing on and embellishing the clay surface.

Boyt At the Wheel

This is the sweetest picture in the world to me. It was taken a few weeks ago and I was busy running around cleaning or something, and these two got their own clay, positioned themselves side by side, and threw some pottery. I am not kidding.

Green Chickadee Cup for Judi Tavill

This is a preview of a porcelain Chickadee cup for Judi Tavill before the bisque firing. The finished cup is on its way to New Jersey. So excited about my first Etsy Mud Team exchange.

Inside of Studio - a few days without students

I have not had students in since Saturday. I have an amazing ability to trash my studio in about 2 hours. I do have class tonight and will have to "tidy" a bit. I will also unload student glaze work this afternoon.
